Bass Lessons
The Greene Music Education Center offers private bass lessons at our music studio in San Diego. The bass is the foundation of harmonic movements; its the glue that holds the groove. Its all about the bass. Learn how to play bass lines from your favorite tune. From jazz, funk, rock and pop, we offer bass lessons in both 4, 5,& 6 string electric bass and acoustic stand-up bass.
Age & Skill Level
The bass guitar has longer and fatter strings that would require finger strength; the ideal age for this instrument is 10 and up. The upright bass would require much more strength; the ideal age would be 13 and up or as long as you could play the upright bass standing up. Private lessons are available for beginner, intermediate, and advanced students.
What You Learn
You’ll learn from the basic fundamentals of bass playing all the way to advanced extended technique. You’ll learn the function of the bass as it relates to the various styles and genre of music.
What Do I Need?
A working electric bass; either 4,5, & 6 string. For upright bass students, you’ll need an upright bass and a bow (German or French).
Tuition & Policies
Private students are signed up for one-year periods and the tuition is divided out into equal monthly payments. Students pay a flat fee every month for their lessons. Not all teachers may be available to teach part-time private students.
